لِيَحذر قارئ القرآن المَجيد أن يضمَّ شفتيه وهو يقرأ الحرف المفخَّم (حالَ كونه مفتوحًا أو ساكنًا) يستعين بضمِّهما على تحقيق التَّفخيم؛ فإنَّه إذا ضمَّ شفتيه وهو يقرأ هذا أو ذاك؛ فقد قرأهما بإشمامٍ صريحٍ من حيث لا يقصد، وهو حينئذٍ زائدٌ في الأحكام زيادةً لا برهان له عليها، وإنما تُضمُّ الشَّفتان في الحرف المضموم لا في أحواله الأخرى، كما تُضمَّان في الإشمام، وإذا كان الإشمام يراه الأصمُّ ولا يسمعه الأعمى؛ فإن الذي يحصل ممَّن يضمُّ شفتيه عند نطق الحرف المفخَّم (حالَ كونه مفتوحًا أو ساكنًا)؛ يكاد يسمعه الأصمُّ ويراه الأعمى.
